Please sign these petitions and pass this
notice on to all your contacts:

There are two initiatives going on right now that are both calling for a Congressional investigation of the public policy of water fluoridation: the POWA petition is for everyone, individuals and all groups, to sign on to, and Second Look's Statement of Concern on Fluoridation, which is specifically for professional individuals and (non-fluoride-opposition) environmental, health, and other groups.

Here's what you can do:

All individuals and fluoride opposition groups: sign the Protect Our Water Alliance (POWA) petition at http://www.powalliance.org/petition/idex.html

Professional individuals with higher degrees (MD, DDS, PhD, etc., plus MPH, RN, RDH): sign the 'individual' Statement of Concern on Fluoridation at:

http://www.slweb.org/soc1.pdf

(To sign the Statement of Concern, all you need to do is to print out ONLY page 2 of the Statement itself, sign the form, and return by fax or snail mail to the contact information at the bottom of that page.)

Environmental, Health, and other non-F opposition groups/organizations: sign the 'organization' Statement of Concern on Fluoridation at:

http://www.slweb.org/soc2.pdf

(sign-on form slightly different, SoC the same)

(To sign the Statement of Concern, all you need to do is to print out ONLY page 2 of the Statement itself, sign the form, and return by fax or snail mail to the contact information at the bottom of that page.)

Statement of Concern signatories, both individual professionals and organizations can be viewed at:

Basic Overview of Recent Developments: In June, the Environmental Working Group petitioned the National Toxicology Program asking that fluoride in tap water be included in the Report on Carcinogens. In July, ten more EPA Unions added their voices to the EPA Headquarters Union (a majority of unions now, representing +7000 EPA professionals) calling for a moratorium on fluoridation, asking the EPA to begin a formal review process, and requesting that Congress hold formal hearings on fluoridation.

The EPA Unions and EWG need our support. Legislators need to hear from their constituents! Sign the above petitions. Send a direct e-mail or letter to our Congressional delegates (see next e-mail with suggestions and contact info.)
